Oscars 2020 UPDATE

Well, the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony just finished, and I am both internally happy, and externally sad for some of my picks because I started the night off so strong.

Overall, I thought another host-less Oscars ceremony was actually pretty solid. If they ever do hire hosts again for the Oscars, I hope they just hire Maya Rudolph/Kristen Wiig or Julia Louis-Dreyfus/Will Ferrell to present or host ever

My biggest takeaway from this Oscars ceremony…PARASITE! It did it! It won Original Screenplay, International Feature, Director, and Picture. I legitimately didn’t think that was possible — I thought it would only take home International Feature out of those 4 even though it was by far my favorite film of 2019. Since I’ve been making Oscar picks, every time I go with my gut, they lose, and every time I don’t go with my gut, they win. The only exception here is “Moonlight”, which almost didn’t happen thanks to that wrong award announcement snafu.

So, quick overview for my picks and how I did this year in my…ongoing quest for the perfect Oscar predictions.

Best Picture

I picked: 1917 — Won: Parasite 0/1

Best Actress

I picked: Renee Zellweger, Judy Won: Renee Zellweger, Judy 1/2
